Remember You is a mama’s circle that offers you the space to rest and be witnessed by other mamas who are caring for themselves as an act of collective care. During our time together you will be guided in yoga nidra, reflect with self inquiry prompts, and share in conversation with other mamas. Remember You is hosted monthly in Kingston, NY.
Theme: It Takes A Village
Join Libby and other mamas to reflect on how you relate to the idea of “it takes a village,” and ways we can create a village that empowers, fortifies, and nourishes ourselves and our families.
It is a blessing to be able to raise a little baby and it requires a lot of energy, creativity, and patience. American culture often prides itself on individualism and the ability for one person to be able to do it all on their own. The idea of a supermom or a superdad can be lauded by our culture. While there is nothing wrong with taking on great responsibility, there are benefits to connecting with community and becoming part of a village of people who care for you and your family.
In motherhood, you may go to park meet ups, story hours, baby/caregiver walking groups, birthday parties, Friday night happy hours, and attend child parent daycare/school hours. You may care for another mother’s little one while they are at work and later in the week they care for yours. You may cook meals for each other when someone is sick or single parenting. These are the ways you begin to connect with your village.
Support from your village not only helps your children’s needs to be addressed when they arise but also supports your mental health. The depth to which you embrace this support is up to you. Sometimes just being around other parents and living in parallel for an hour a day can remind you that you aren’t alone and that what you are feeling is not unique.
At this Remember You, join Libby and other mamas for an evening to reflect on the ways you are connecting with your village.
